HOUSE PADDINGTON
A small, but bespoke renovation to a terrace house in the tightly conserved heritage suburb of Paddington, NSW. Forming Stage 1 of the works, was a remodelling of the small outdoor entertaining area, new doors and rear facade. The design developed from the idea of 'communal gathering'. That friends and family could gather around a focal point in the small terrace. It was imagined as a light source that became a beacon at night, while during the day it would be a feature in shadow. The custom made brass light fittings spring from the garden to create a focal point at the centre of the space. These integrate with cantilevered concrete benches, rich stone textures and a diverse garden. Highly refined doors, materials and details create an abundance of light, texture and interest.
